Life coach.....I have seen that in Ter with 3 different women.....why cant they just get a license that says "sex therapist". Already enough people in the world trying to screw you! Here you pay to get screwed! If you have your own website...your not a victim...

I agree about the "sex therapist" part. Could have a few simple #s to designate what they'll do such as hj, bj, fs, anal, etc.

You know that you're known far and wide and when we're disappointed elsewhere with someone for whatever reason, we know we can always come back to you for what we want and need...a proper massage from someone who knows what she's doing.

What the provider was talking about only impacts MPLS. They are implementing massage therapist licensing. Of course, many cities in twin cities area already require it.

Funny that they think calling themselves a "life coach" will solve the legal problem.

Looks like the crackdown may have started. Stopped by this place on Hennepin just north of Franklin yesterday and the doors were locked and a card taped to the door from city of Minneapolis saying Unlicensed. Often in cities where they pass a massage ordinance, the city goes around to every business they can find and let the business know they have to license. The other explination is that the city decided to play dumb that it was a massage business and post that card. But until 7/1/2014, massage is still exempt form having a license.

Also, the ordinance clearly defines what is massage and covered under the ordinance. It doesn't matter if you call yourself a life coach or not.

So they can be closed down for license issues unrelated to the service industry they are in (ie massage therapy).

The poster said it was a Minneapolis City card, so that eliminates state level entirely. This was strictly a city level issue.

In Minneapolis a massage business is currently exempt from any city license at all because it is "sex oriented business". This is what Minneapolis has been trying to change with the new ordinace. Under current law Minneapolis can only control massage through zoning. And that has proven worthless for the city.

Actually state taxes on businesses are not overridden by city or county laws.
Nor are the requirements to register/license that business.
I will look up the MN law to enhance my knowledge but I haven't found a state yet that didn't require every business to registrar and receive a tax payer Id and even if they fail to follow them and report state and federal taxes for employees they still need a federal tax payer Id as well.

So yeah they can be shut down as unlicensed unrelated to massage certifications.

I'd noticed the term "Life Coach" in a posting on "Back Page.com" by a White provider in Evansville, IN. Some of the text kind of scared me away from the person...too Right-wing in their politics for me, which I found a bit ironic...a Right-winger maybe doing HJ, BJ, or FS to anybody that could afford her...also some of the photos looked a bit too "butch" for me...maybe a tranny?
I could just imagine the session...while she went on about Rand Paul you'd be treated well, if you disagreed she'd be too rough, or just get you all hot-n-bothered and then leave you with a raging hard-on, telling you to get the Hell out.

In MN (as in most states) you can run a business as a sole proprieter and not have to register anything if the business type itself does not require licensing. Taxes are then paid under the sole proprieter's SSN. If, however, you want to erect a sign and run under a fictitous business name, an LLC, etc. yes you have to register that business and file seperate tax forms under that business name and tax ID.

Many of these places in Minneapolis have no business name. They have no sign, and they have no tax ID. They put up a Backpage ad w/o any business name on it, just a phone number and/or email along with the promise of a good time. They simply run under sole proprieter . . . if they declare taxes at all. The city has no legal way to do anything about these business unless they can make a prostitution case. Taxes are state/federal jurisdiction so the question of taxes being paid are moot for the city.

I don't see their new ordinance putting a dent in this business, much. But it's good politics to say, "Massage is regulated in Minneapolis."

The new ordinance does give the city the right to walk into a massage parlor anytime they want and inspect a "licensed" massage business. But that right of inspecition is granted via the licensing process, not city/state law. When the business acquires a license, they sign an agreement allowing inspection w/o notice. But they don't have the right to walk into a closed room where a massage is being given w/o a warrant. So the city is still restricted some. And of course, most cities require a certain amount of training . . . certification. Minneapolis appears to have left that part out of the ordinance. Go figure! Untrained, uncertified people are allowed to give massage. What are they going to do to make the client happy when they can't give a good theraputic massage?

What would you find "ironic" about a right-winger being a provider? Was it the "right-wing" that rolled up all the parlors in the cities the last 20 years? Is it the "right-wing" that's behind banning things as rediculous as 16+ ounce sodas?

What I find "ironic" is that you would say Rand Paul.. If you wanted to make some point about the socially conservative, draw up a better boogy man than that. Rand would be a secular libertarian, not interested in forcing you to use one light bulb over another or how many vegetables your child will be served at lunch.

Seems the only one that harbor any resentment during a session if there was any ideological difference of opinion would be yourself. Guessing you'd start railing on a provider if they showed up in an Escalade about how horrible a person they were that didn't care about the planet.

It'd be better to legalize it and that way people can say what's offered then you know where to go for what since doing it the other way obviously isn't working .

Well, a couple states are following the Amsterdam example: today legalized marijuana, tomorrow legalized prostitution. Maybe MN will get to legalized HE some day.

Right-wing......left wing........how about "aint no thing like a chicken wing"..... ....Be a Moderate/Independent and you make the choice......I say legalize prostitution in most rural areas with some inner-city first and then see how it works. If it's ran properly and not causing the crime rate to rise......... .
